Home Education

For some children Home Tuition can be an alternative to attendance at school, or can form part of an overall education package which includes part-time attendace at school and which is tailored to meet the needs of the individual child.

Section 7 of The Education Act 1996 states that there is a duty of parents to secure education of children of compulsory school age

The parent of every child of compulsory school age shall cause him to receive efficient full-time education suitable—
a: to his age, ability and aptitude, and
b: to any special educational needs he may have,

either by regular attendance at school or otherwise

The law regarding Home Tuition is complex and the individual circumstances of your child will dictate whether or not your child is entitled to Home Tuition.  Please note Home Education is treated differently in law to Elective Home Education or Education Otherwise than at School.
